While finishing up her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Prince Edward Island, Katie realized that she loves writing about science.
After earning a master’s degree in science communication at Drexel University, she worked as a science writer and editor at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. At CIHR, she had the opportunity to interview a wide range of health researchers and write about how their work is improving health care.
She then followed her interests in genetics, health care and science communication to the University of British Columbia, where she earned a master’s in genetic counselling. She now lives in Vancouver, where she works as a genetic counsellor. When she’s not talking to people about their genes, she’s writing about science and how it can impact peoples’ lives.
She joined Science Borealis in October 2019 as a Science Policy & Politics editor, and her first post will be published soon.
